Default Baby didn't move or kicked the whole night

My hubby's family, his mom and dad, along with his brother and sis-in-law stayed over for Christmas.
Sis-in-law is on her 3rd trimester. At around 2 am, we just got surprised when we heard them panicking and heading off to the nearest emergency room. My mom told me that sis-in-law's baby didn't move at all during the night... Turns out her baby is just fine.

Is this a regular occurrence? When I was pregnant I didn't quite experience this. But with a baby's movement just stopping, that's sure scary...

Oh my Abana, the same thing happened to me like last week! Here's what happened: I'm on my 30th week. That night scared the hell out of me. Usually my baby is super active at night time and during my sleep. But I was shocked that for around 3 hours or so, baby didn't move actively at all. I was extremely worried. We rushed to the hospital and had his Fetal Heart Rate taken by a Doppler at the ER. Turns out baby's FHR is normal.

My baby could be just sleeping!

This happened to me before... I was very frightened... it turned out the baby is okay. You still have to go to the doctor though if this happens just to make sure things are okay.

OMG, that's sure scary! Better to be always on the safe side. Is it really advisable to always use a Doppler when baby has just stopped moving?

I think if these instances do happen, very much better to go to the nearest emergency room. I don't know how to use a Doppler so owning one will put it in vain.

I agree with you! You can never be too sure. Go to the emergency immediately.

It does happen to me several times but only for like half an hour long. Baby not moving for that long is really alarming. Good thing your sis-in-law and your soon to be niece are both ok. That is very alarming indeed.

It's the length of time that matters so as moms, we should all be very observant and careful and don't assume that the baby is "just" sleeping. It's far off cautious than sorry really.

Had the same fear when I was my pregnant with my first daughter. But with my 2nd baby not moving for a while, I didn't get too much anxious. I guess if there's no movement for quite a long time then that is indeed alarming.
