Default Cat/Dog-Loving Moms!

Did/do you have a dog or cat while you were pregnant? What are the advantages and disadvantages of having them? I have cats my whole life and just let them be... I don't think they're harmful to babies but I never really asked a professional about it.

I have a chihuahua even before I had a kid. I still have him with me and no problems at all!

I am a dog lover myself! If you're a dog lover then perhaps having a dog around will surely make you enjoy your day no matter how stressful it is. Though I didn't have a dog on my first pregnancy, with my second one we had 2 at home! Good thing I've got my eldest son to help me take good care of them. I've got 2 labs. Now our Welsch Corgi is a new addition. What a cute hotdog!

Not really a hard-core dog lover but my Chow-Chow Hershey makes me smile big time!

No dogs for me... anyway, some say it would be wise to get a hypo-allergenic dog just to be safe... if you or kids have asthma

I'm a cat lover! I have a Persian cat and her name is Felicity! She's so adorable and huggable!

I love dogs too and that's something I share with my hubby and our child soon, for sure!

I think I have read somewhere that having your baby exposed to pets will help boost your baby's immune system. Of course, some dog breeds are really great guard dogs for babies

I see... I am just a bit paranoid about it... there are so many incidents where dogs attack kids... this kinda makes me afraid of dogs...

Thank you so much for the replies! My sister has 4 cats and is now expecting a baby... Of course, being a cat lover, she does not want to give them away but we are wondering if the cats might cause asthma or allergies if they are exposed to the baby.
