I second Abana. If you want to pursue a career of being a birth doula research is the key! Oh, and the location as well. If birth doulas aren't in demand in a certain location then there only 2 things ahead of you- getting a lot of clients or having none.

Yup! I seldom hear of birth doulas here in the US. Though I bet, they're very much needed!

I've heard of few birth doulas here in UK but it's ultimately popular in New Zealand and Australia.

Well how could you have a lot of clients if it's not even in demand in an area? Perhaps the most possible is the latter.
