Default Staying up late... Is it bad for the baby?

I'm curious. Is staying up late at night really that bad for the baby? I've got graveyard shifts thrice a week. Usually, I have to stay at work until 4 am. I do get enough sleep in the morning though. But I'm just a bit worried if it'll give some bad effects to my baby's development...

If you're getting enough sleep and an uninterrupted one, then you shouldn't be worrying about it.

They say it is always better to sleep at night time because our body functions better that way. But then, I know a couple of friends who work on graveyard shifts and they didn't have unhealthy babies so I guess you just have to make sure you get all the sleep you need.

If a mom isn't getting enough sleep when pregger, the risk of having a premature baby is high. But if you're saying that you're able to get enough sleep and an uninterrupted one, then I think there's nothing to be worried about.

Well if you feel tired when you have those sleepless nights or for not having enough sleep, the baby may feel the same too.

That's quite a good news. Thanks!

@Abana and Baha- I hope you're all right! I don't feel any difference at all with a good night's sleep and an uninterrupted daytime sleep so I guess (and hoping) I'm doing just fine. Thanks!

I'm also working on various shifting and my colleague who's also pregnant also had to endure our work schedule. I believe she's also able to get some good sleep during the day. Never heard any problem with her pregnancy at all. Last November was her baby's baptismal and the baby's doing fine.

Nope as long as you sleep well during the day and/or have like 6-8 hours of straight sleep then you and your baby are fine.

No problem! Just take care of yourself, get enough sleep and eat healthy and you should be fine!
