Default Vaccines which are not safe during pregnancy

Last New Year's eve was a fun celebration. But the fun was lessened when my brother got tiny blisters from a neighborhood fireworks. We thought it was nothing serious, but when they got to the nearest ER he was given a Tetanus shot right there and then. Now I just got curious, what if that happened to a pregnant woman? Is it still ok for her to have her shots? Which vaccinations are safe and which are not for a pregnant woman then?

Hi Fanny! Hope your brother is doing better now.

As to your question, from what I know, (Td) or Tetanus Diphteria booster shots are safe for pregnant women. This is likely to be given on 2nd or 3rd tri but I think it's ok if it's given on the first trimester if there's an accident that needs this booster to be administered.

I'm pregnant and had my Flu vaccine last week. I guess it's safe.

I'm scheduled for a Flu Vaccine in March and I think it's just fine for pregnant mums like us.

I agree with Halia and Idalia, Flu shots are safe to the mum and the unborn child and they keep them protected as well.

I've heard that the Varicella vaccine is bloody dangerous during pregnancy. Oh, just scary!

Whoa, really? Indeed we trust our gynecologists big time, but it does help that we know what they will be administering us beforehand. Thanks for sharing!

Vaccines with killed viruses are safe during pregnancy.
While those with live viruses are very dangerous for pregnant moms.
Vax with killed viruses are Flu shot, Tdap, Hepa etc...
Vax with live viruses like Measles and Varicella shots are a no-no.

I agree.
It is best to discuss things concerning immunizations with your practitioner. He or she is the best person to assure you if what's good or not for you and your unborn baby.
